  Scot Thom, founder of Gobi Capital and The Learning Studio, discovered at an early age the he was good at taking an idea and turning it into a successful business. He started teaching other people to follow their entrepreneurial pursuits. Growing up in a small town, Mr Thom has a deep understanding of the challenges facing businesses and communities within a rural environment.

Mr Thom specializes in solving complex problems involving scarce resources and no funding, often where there are many other obstacles to closing a deal or breaking even with a business. His ability to see opportunity and systematically mitigate risks has allowed him to work with a variety of companies facing similar problems ¡§C mainly how to increase sales and secure financing.

Since 1999, Mr. Thom has been involved in the founding of ten companies ranging from consumer services, enterprise software, alternative asset financing, digital media and technology finance, within various roles from Founder to Vice President of Sales. Through Gobi Capital and The Learning Studio, Mr Thom has helped over 4,200 entrepreneurs solve the challenges facing business people, as well as secured over $800 million in financing in North America, Central America and The Caribbean.

Mr. Thom has a BA of Economics from the University of Guelph, Canada and completed the International Business Linkage Program at the Helsinki University of Technology, Finland. In his spare time, Mr Thom was campaign manager during the last City of Toronto election, appointed to the advisory committee at Georgian College (Health and Entrepreneurship programs), plays Aussie Rules Football and rugby, founded Open Coffee Clubs in Barrie and Toronto, and mentors for Futurpreneur (a non-profit helping youth start businesses).
